Miwel, since its inception nearly twenty five years ago, has been the successful contractor on a number of projects across the Province of Ontario. These projects have included road & highway construction, structures, water-mains, sanitary & storm sewers, subdivision servicing and park construction. In the last several years the following projects have been of notable interest to Miwel Construction. Some of our past successful projects are:
- Miwel is also currently the General Contractor constructing the St. John's Sideroad Reconstruction project for York Region. This multi year project includes the reconstruction of approx 2.5km of four lane urban roadway, including watermain, storm and sanitary sewer installations, including tunneling operations, through environmentally sensitive areas and adjacent to highly active, live traffic conditions.
- Miwel Construction was recently selected as the General Contractor for the Enterprise Drive / Helen Avenue Extension and Go Transit Rail Underpass for the Town of Markham.
- Miwel has been successful in the Pre-Qualifying process for The Region of Durham, The City of Barrie, The Town of Richmond Hill and the York University projects in the past.
- Oakwood Water Supply System Water main, The City of Kawartha Lakes # 2004-05.This project consisted of the installation of approximately 12.6km of water main, including various sections to be completed in tunnel, directional drilling and open cut methods. The project included numerous creek crossings, main line valves, valve chambers, hydrants, service connections within the Town of Oakwood and surrounding area including all other appurtenances and complete restoration. This project was awarded to Miwel Construction in the spring of 2004 at an estimated cost of $ 2.5 million and was completed 3 months ahead of schedule in the summer of 2004.
- Enterprise Drive / Helen Avenue Extension and Go Transit Rail Underpass project, The Town of Markham #001-T-04.This project consists of the construction of approximately 1.2km of five lane urban roadway with a grade separation (Go Transit structure) for an active transit line including retaining walls, grading, storm sewers ranging from 300mm to 1350mm diameter, a complete storm water pumping station, 400mm and 600mm water main system and appurtances, valve chamber installations, sanitary sewer ranging from 300mm to 600mm diameter including connection to live systems, heat distribution piping, lighting and traffic signal works. This project was awarded to Miwel Construction in the spring of 2004 at an estimated cost of $17.5 million and is currently scheduled for completion in the fall of 2005.
- St. John's Sideroad (Y.R. #26) Road Reconstruction, The Regional Municipality of York #03-104A. This project consists of approximately 2.5km of four lane urban roadway reconstruction under live traffic conditions including site preparation, excavation, complete grading and paving operations including concrete curb and gutter, storm sewer systems ranging from 300mm to 975mm, sanitary sewers ranging from 825mm to 1050mm including concrete, HDPE and CPP pressure pipe installed in both open cut and underground tunneling systems, 450mm and 500mm water main systems including appurtances and tunneling operations under active railway systems (PNR Railway), numerous valve chamber installations, well mitigation measures for local residents, continual groundwater and settlement monitoring, steel sheet pile retaining walls, environmental controls, timber boardwalks and associated landscaping, illumination, traffic control signals and roadway signing. Construction works involved a majority of works through environmentally sensitive wetlands and involved extensive community relations. This project was awarded to Miwel construction in the summer of 2004 at an estimated cost of $19.5 million and is currently scheduled for completion in the summer of 2006. So far on this project Miwel Construction has met and exceeded all milestone scheduling completion dates for the various phases of this project, which were required to meet owners requirements.
