Indigenous Affairs Chart

Aecon’s Indigenous Engagement Program is comprised of three core elements:

  1. Education and Training
Aecon works with training organizations that offer diverse employment and training opportunities to assist Indigenous Communities in meeting Aecon’s employment and business requirements. Building labour capacity lays the foundation for a future workforce with construction experience, as well as improves the wellbeing of individuals and communities. Success requires collaboration and Aecon works together with educational representatives of our partner Indigenous Communities as well as third party education and training organizations to determine community skill sets and training requirements.

  2. Employment
Aecon is dedicated to fair and equitable opportunities for participation in employment associated with our activities and projects. Indigenous Communities close to Aecon's project sites offer a unique opportunity to develop a stable local workforce. Aecon recognizes the value of mentorship to align skills and interests with employment opportunities and to create an environment for success.

  3. Business Development
Aecon strives to increase capacity within the communities by working with local businesses, suppliers and contractors. In communities where resource development partnerships are welcomed and opportunities are available, Aecon encourages Indigenous Communities to participate in long-term business development and new technology initiatives.
