Aecon Buildings awarded contract for $15 million casino expansion and hotel build for Lummi Nation

Toronto, Ontario – March 9, 2005: Aecon Group Inc. (TSX: ARE) today announced that its Seattle, Washington based Buildings division has secured a construction management contract for a $15.3 million project for the Silver Reef Hotel and Casino in Ferndale Washington.

Work is expected to begin in spring 2005 on the 105-room, 6-storey hotel along with expansion of the existing casino facility originally built by Aecon in 2002. In total, Aecon Buildings will create approximately 80,000 square feet of new space for the existing casino and new hotel designed by architects Morris and Brown. Anticipated features of the hotel and casino include a spa and an Asian restaurant. The project is expected to be completed by summer 2006.
