Regina Wastewater Treatment Plant – Regina, Saskatchewan

The City of Regina’s Wastewater Treatment Plant project will increase the City’s wastewater treatment capacity and modernize the facility.

Aecon (in a joint venture), along with the designer (Stantec), are responsible for the design and construction. EPCOR will provide the finance, operations, and maintenance for the 30-year project.

This project involves the design and construction of upgrades to the following:

  • The existing primary treatment clarifiers
  • Digester system and Ultraviolet (UV) disinfection system
  • New Biological Nutrient Removal (BNR) treatment and secondary clarifiers
  • New 25KV main electrical service
  • New 600 V distribution systems and complete upgrades to the instrumentation, controls, and SCADA systems

The new plant will be able to accommodate an average daily flow of 92 MLD and a peak hourly wet weather flow of 450 MLD, and meet all effluent standards as required by environmental permitting. The new system will provide treatment capacity for a population of 258,000 and will significantly reduce ammonia, nitrogen, phosphorous, E. Coli, and suspended solids levels from entering the water system.
