East Windsor Cogeneration

Client: East Windsor Cogeneration L.P.
Engineers: Worley Parsons
Location: Windsor, Ontario

The East Windsor Cogeneration Centre (EWCC) is a highly efficient, natural gas-fired 84 megawatt Cogeneration Plant.

Aecon’s scope included the complete design, procurement of balance-of-plant equipment, construction and commissioning of the facility. This topping cycle plant is located at the Ford Powerhouse in Windsor.

The work involved the installation of two General Electric LM6000 NXGN Gas Turbine Generators, 2 IST Once Through Steam Generators and Balance-Of-Plant facilities.

The plant provides power to the Ontario grid. High pressure steam is also provided to the adjacent Ford Powerhouse, allowing Ford to generate electricity for internal process needs through the use of existing generation equipment installed by Aecon in 1994.

“Your management teams are a credit to their trades and Aecon. They have all conducted themselves in a professional manner, and exhibited a high attention to detail, which is crucial to machinery of this nature. The friendly, positive and safe work environment that your team has created is a pleasure to work within.”
Eric Stoehr - General Electric
