Aecon Nuclear’s portfolio of building, refurbishing, maintaining, and decommissioning nuclear power facilities reflects a record of project success that ranges from small but essential maintenance contracts, to major construction endeavors. Aecon supports clients with expert project management to the most exacting standards.

To support the nuclear sector in Canada, Aecon maintains a nuclear quality management system compliant to the requirements of CSA Standards N286-05, CAN3-Z299.1 and N286.7. Additionally, Aecon maintains several CSA N285.0 Certificates of Authorization. Aecon’s N, NPT, NS & NA Stamps from the ASME, coupled with programmatic compliance to U.S. Federal Regulation 10CFR50 Appendix B, has extended Aecon’s reach to the U.S. and international nuclear markets.

Aecon-Wachs combines the strengths and experience of a leading construction contractor with specialized engineering capabilities for industrial clients to develop and drive an integrated construction management plan.

Previously known as Wachs Technical Services, U.S.-based Aecon-Wachs strengthens Aecon’s construction and decommissioning capabilities. As a complement to its core competencies in field services, including specialized welding, machining, equipment rentals and staff augmentation, Aecon-Wachs has the capability to perform design engineering, custom modular fabrication and field installation.

Bruce Power Rendering

The project is the centrepiece of the Major Component Replacement (MCR) program which will see the replacement of the main components of the reactor. Unit 6 is the first of six reactors being replaced by Bruce Power through the MCR program.

Darlington Nuclear Refurbishment

Clarington, Ontario

The Darlington Nuclear Generating Station, one of the top performing nuclear stations in the world, has produced 20% of Ontario’s electricity since the early 1990s. Powering forward, the refurbishment project will extend Darlington’s operations to 2055.
