Aecon strives to have a positive social impact in the communities where we work. This impact comes in part from the immediate economic opportunities related to construction and over the longer term, as the infrastructure we build delivers benefits to the community.

Our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) help drive meaningful change by addressing biases that still exist in our industry and within our workforce. Our ERG Leadership Table guides and champions efforts to build welcoming workplaces for all.

Since 2021, Aecon has partnered with the Toronto Community Benefits Network to support The NexGen Builders program, which prepares individuals who have historically faced barriers in the construction industry to successfully enter the workforce.

Aecon is proud to be recognized as an approved training employer with the Department of Defense’s (DOD) SkillBridge Program for service members transitioning into the civilian workforce. SkillBridge allows active-duty U.S. military members to gain civilian work experience through internships, apprenticeships, and training during their last 180 days of service. This eases the transition to civilian life; helps them build relevant skills and networks; and reduces uncertainty and unemployment post-service.
