Ladore Spillway Seismic Upgrade Project

Campbell River, British Columbia

Aecon EBC Ladore General Partnership, a consortium between Aecon (60%) and EBC (40%), is delivering BC Hydro’s Ladore Spillway Seismic Upgrade Project.

This two-phase procurement process includes an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phase to collaboratively plan and prepare for construction, with the second phase planned to be complete by the end of 2024. Project construction is expected to commence in early 2025, subject to overall project approvals.

CLIENT
British Columbia Hydro and Power Authority (BC Hydro)

START DATE
April 2024

The scope of work involves the replacement of three spillway gates and related works, such as the hoist system, so they can retain and pass water in a controlled manner downstream post-earthquake, as well as the installation of new equipment, and upgrades to the existing protection and control equipment to meet current reliability and seismic standards.

This is the third project that Aecon has collaborated on for the Campbell River System. Further information about the project is available on BC Hydro's Major Projects website
