 Safety at Aecon

Safety is our #1 Core Value

Our proactive Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) program is based on established behavioural safety techniques. Developed in-house, the program meets OHSAS 18001 standards and complies with all jurisdictions, in many cases exceeding local requirements.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, we have proven that together, we are stronger – even if it has meant being safer apart. Aecon has always put safety first. As we strive to be the #1 Canadian infrastructure company, we rely on our first-rate safety program to protect us, keep us in good standing with our clients and partners, and ensure our people go home safe each and every day.

Safety Week

Every year, as part of our Safety Week, we showcase and reinforce our commitment to safety and specifically focus our attention on the importance of safe work habits. In 2019, we partnered with the Canadian Mental Health Association to offer a two-day Mental Health First Aid training program to employees.

Most recently, Aecon’s 2020 Safety Week looked a bit different given the COVID-19 safety measures and protocols in place, but our commitment to keeping our people healthy and safe remains unchanged. Focusing on the important roles communication, engagement and participation play at all levels of our organization, the theme for 2020 was “Together we are Stronger”.
