Dereck Oikawa is Senior Vice President, U.S. Operations, Utilities, with executive oversight of Aecon’s Utilities sector in the United States and its strategic expansion.
With Aecon since 2015, Dereck has led the Telecommunications, In-Home Services and Utility Engineering portfolios, developing end-to-end solutions for Aecon’s national telecom partners and helping enable the expansion of their broadband networks. Prior to joining Aecon, he held various senior management positions with Bell Canada for over 14 years.
Dereck currently serves as Executive Sponsor for Aecon’s Women Inclusion Network Employee Resource Group and is a member of the Utility Contractors’ Association Strategic Planning Committee and co-chair of the association’s Negotiations Committee. He holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from the University of Ottawa and is a member of the Board of Directors for Ontario ON1Call and Momiji Healthcare Society.
