Aecon's award-winning Integrated Digital Delivery (IDD) framework offers a comprehensive approach that leverages digital tools and systems to optimize project management, improve efficiency, and ensure high-quality outcomes.

By connecting design, planning, site reality, and field execution through a common digital data backbone, Aecon’s IDD creates a Digital Twin which transforms information into insight and insight into certainty.
Creating a Digital Twin

Aecon’s IDD creates a Digital Twin that incorporates real-world data provided by digital surveying and geomatics techniques that merge actual site conditions with design models.

The Digital Thread Transparent

  • 3D phasing and virtual site logistics and equipment simulations.
  • Modelling of real-world site conditions for pre-engineering.
  • Progressive as-built model for utilization with 3D construction planning integrated with updated site conditions.
  • Overlay LiDAR of existing building or brown-field site with design using Scan to BIM.

Creating a Digital Twin with the Six Pillars:

When the Six Pillars come together, they lead to digitally controlled design and digitally enabled construction.
Design Hub 1

The Design Hub is where the team creates and then manages a digital representation of the project with Building Information Modeling (BIM) design integration.

Build Planner

This is an integration process of construction means and methods through 3D modelling preplanning while also incorporating 4D scheduling and 5D cost simulation prior to the start of construction.

GeoHub

A centralized spatial data system designed to geospatially map design data throughout project phases. This includes environmental data and linear activities like traffic control, land mapping, environmental monitoring and consent processes.

Site Twin
The creation of a digital construction site twin that incorporates real-world data using digital surveying and geomatics techniques that align actual site conditions with design models for weekly construction planning.

Workpacks

A digital field tool for daily reporting that supports progress monitoring. This tool creates and manages digital drawings, specifications, material lists, etc. to ensure seamless execution of on-site activities.

Insights

A custom project information management dashboard based on each IDD pillar. This includes customized project analytics, project team needs and design data for project control insight.

Benefits of Integrated Digital Delivery

Aecon's IDD framework is a digitally holistic approach to project management and offers a large variety of benefits:

  • Design change management
  • Improved planning and scheduling
  • Faster model-based digital estimating
  • Enhancing requirements management
  • Improved interface management
