Aecon awarded $8 million casino project near Seattle

Toronto, Ontario - October 2, 2006: Aecon Group Inc. (TSX: ARE) announced today that its Buildings Division has been awarded a construction management contract for an $8 million casino project in the U.S. Pacific Northwest.

Aecon will provide construction management services for remodeling and extending the Wildhorse Resort and Casino. Currently underway, this project is expected to take eight months to complete and will include the construction of 13,446 square feet of new cabaret, and public circulation areas. The project will also include converting the existing restaurant and kitchen into a 5,069 square foot gaming facility. In addition, a new 8,125 square foot kitchen and fine dining area will be constructed.
