Feb 14, 2012

A testament to Aecon’s commitment to safety, Aecon Construction & Materials Limited (ACML) received two separate safety awards on February 6th at the 85th Annual Ontario Road Builders’ Association (ORBA) convention.

ACML received the 2011 H.T. Routly Memorial Safety Award in Category II, for over 100,001 average annual man hours – achieving the most consecutive injury free man hours of 1,230,392 in the industry. As well as the Million Man Hour Milestone Award for achieving over one million consecutive man hours without a lost-time injury. Both awards were presented by George Gritziotis, Chief Prevention Officer, Ministry of Labour.

“I would like to congratulate the entire team at ACML for this accomplishment. Everyone's hard work and commitment to safety made this possible,” says ACML Safety Coordinator, Robert Covassin.

This is a huge achievement for ACML and is proof of Aecon’s continuing dedication to safety as its number one core value.

Ontario Road Builders’ Association’s member companies are recognized for their superior performance in worker health and safety through the annual Routly Safety Awards.
